Ondrej Strnadel won the Bavarian State Prize 2018 for an exceptional achievement – creating matte hand-blown objects. His ability to shift traditional glass technology – glass blowing – to unprepared areas was appreciated.
The prize is awarded by a multi-member jury composed of personalities from the arts and crafts sector. The price has a 30 – years tradition and only exceptional personalities from the field of applied arts and crafts from all over the world get it. Personalities who are not afraid to work up traditional arts and crafts for today. In the past years, the prize was awarded to Bohemian designer Oldřich Plíva for his cast glass sculptures.
